Holy Cross Hospital Community Outreach department’s School Health program provides the staff and services to prepare children for the upcoming school year. More than 1,000 children benefit from this program annually.

During the school year, a certified School Health Nurse can be found at the23 different parochial elementary schools in Broward County providing vision, hearing and/or scoliosis screening. The school nurse provides on-site sick clinic services and a variety of student and staff health education classes throughout the school year, including classes on CPR and blood-borne pathogens. She also conducts youth health education classes at the Broward Regional Juvenile Detention Center and at a Broward County alternative middle school.

The School Health program provides these services to all Broward elementary parochial schools (kindergarten through eighth grade), serves as a resource to all Miami-Dade parochial elementary schools and provides childhood immunization services for children who are uninsured, underinsured and Medicaid recipients.
